about

This track was the first song written intentionally for the new record. I think we started on this one in 2015 as well. While some songs take months to finish writing, Zach wrote the music and lyrics in an afternoon after feeling inspired by his long distance relationship with his now Wife. Through distance, communication is hard but so important and there are so many ups and downs to keeping such a fragile thing safe. The metaphor of Double Yellow is literally the visualization of driving for hours to get to the one you love, even when times are hard. This song is a reminder to not keep tabs of who said what, or hurt feelings, or old pain. It's about moving into the future with clean minds and open hearts.

lyrics

You used to call me on the weekends
And cry yourself to sleep
I used to drive in the night
Just to taste your skin
And feel you between the sheets

I know we’ve been here before
I’m not looking to keep a score of who’s to blame
Let’s break away from the past
And start again

I used to tell you we could leave here
And get out of town for a while
We used to pack up the bags
Pretend that we’re fine
And ride in the silence for miles

I know we’ve been here before
I’m not looking to keep a score of who’s to blame
Let’s break away from the past
And start again

Now is the perfect time
I know, now is the perfect time
To let it go
