This song steers away from the seriousness of life and love and brings you back into a world of partying and rock and roll. The riffs came first, and the lyrics we struggled with for a while. But we always has this 3 part melody in mind when structuring the lyrics. Whatever we wrote, it had to fit the melodic structure that was written specifically for this song. We pictured a guy - someone everyone loved, but knew nothing about. Everyone felt like he was their best friend when he rarely came out to parties, but couldn't tell you what music he listened to, his politics - nothing. Just a cool guy. He's a little drunk and a little high at a party at a beach house on the west coast, and he makes his way down to the beach and finds a lady friend he knows, following him down to the sand. From there, they get together, and then part their ways.
lyrics
Eyes follow me down to the blue
Realize that I’m always you
I don't care if you want my money
I don't care if you want my sin
I'm coming back to you again
And again and again
Fade, the skin of a friend I take
Known in love, always break away
Smoke filled in the space we made
I don’t know, but it’s the debt I paid
I don't care if you want my money
I don't care if you want my sin
I'm coming back to you again
And again and again
Turn, all of the waves cascade
I’ll go on, only to find the way
Eyes follow me down to the blue
Realize that I’m always you
