We both come from a background in metal music, and naturally were obsessed with our 7 string guitars tuned down to A, and wanted to make something that was serious, still sounded like us, but felt immense and heavy in the least metal way possible. This is another track where it just happened. We didn't try to write it - it just came out. We love the massive choruses and distorted leads that make this the track that can connect with anyone going through something inside of themselves. Sick is about so many things wound into one core meaning. It is about using substances to cope with anxiety and fears. It's about questioning everyone's understanding of the world and searching for any glimpse of hope that the end is nothing to fear. But ultimately, succumbing to the cyclical nature of self medicating.
lyrics
Drift away, pretending that I'm fine
I know it isn't right
But I'd rather pay no mind
To the sickness that you'll find in me
Sleep awake, ignoring all the signs
Bring everything to light
But I'll just have to take my time
And fade into the air I breathe
Feed the lie, I wasted so much time
Don't read between the lines
But I just can't seem to define
The faces that I fear I'll see
Seek the light within and you will find
Aligned and intertwined
A life lost and left behind
Revive and slip away again
Drift away, pretending that I'm fine
I know it isn't right
But I'd rather pay no mind
To the sickness that you'll find in me
